You can race as an individual or as a team, with the team advantage being that only one of your team need complete the station test if all members of the team are present at the station at the same time. Therefore you go faster! On the other hand, no prizes can be claimed by team members until all members are present at the stations with all stations completed, so you have to be a little careful to not get caught and split up by the trackers!

HIGHLANDS HUNT 2014 RULES

1) THE BOUNDARY IS THE FENCE MARKED WITH CAUTION TAPE AND THE RIVER.

You have been given a map with identifiable topographical features to aid your navigation. If you are lost, walk in a straight line until you hit a fence, and do not cross the fence! Walk along it, and you will always back to home.

2) YOUR GOAL IS TO COLLECT ONE COLOURED ARMBAND FROM EACH OF THE SKILL STATIONS AND RETURN TO THE STARTING LINE TO REDEEM THE COMPLETED SET OF ARMBANDS FOR A PRIZE.

You are safe from the trackers when you are at a skill station. There is a test you must complete required to obtain your armband. You may do the stations in whatever order you choose. When you arrive back at the start line, you may trade in the complete set of armbands and claim any prize still left. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED.

if all members are at the station all at the same time, only one member of a team need complete the task on behalf of the team. If not all the members of the team are at the station at the same time, then each member present must complete the task as if they were individual adventurers.

Teams may select their prize only when all members of the team are safely at home with each team member possessing a complete set of armbands. Each team member may then claim a prize.

Once you have completed one round and have chosen your prize, you may return to the field of play for another round and collect another set of armbands and redeem them for a prize once again. You may repeat this as long as you have energy and there is time remaining!

3) TRACKERS ARE SEEKING YOU AND CAN REMOVE AN ARMBAND IF THE CATCH YOU.

If the the trackers capture you, they will select (only) one armband to take from you. You will then have to go back to that station to get a replacement. You can return to a station for replacement armbands as many times as you require for that round. You must complete the skill at the station each time, just like the first time you were there.

You are available as prey to the trackers if you are not within a safe station or home base. You have 10 seconds to get away from the tracker once he has taken your armband and then you are open game again.

4) THE START AND FINISH OF THE RACE ARE INDICATED BY A HORN BLAST AND A FLARE.

Please sign out before leaving.

5) STRATEGIC CONSIDERATIONS.

Are you better to sneak and avoid trackers altogether, or are you better to run and go fast and hope they do not see you?

Are you better to stick together as a team, and increase the odds of being caught, or split up and therefore make the stations longer to get through?

Are you better to run and dodge when the tracker finds you, or are you better to surrender early and just go back for another armband?

What strategy should you use when you finally have all your armbands? Race back to home, or use maximal stealth to protect.

Should you split up as team to discover all the locations of the stations, and then meet to share info, or just travel together to avoid having to wait around at risk?

Will you just pick a prize and then get going again, or will you sit and carefully choose while other people jump in and claim their prizes?
