PEP – Seniors Therapeutic Program
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about PEP.
PEP is a therapeutic program for older adults who are living independently.
The program also provides much needed respite care for caregivers.
PEP’s Live Well Breath Well program supports those who wish to maintain or improve their lung capacity. This class takes place in Smiths Falls on Mondays from 9:30-12:00
PEP was developed in response to both the growing needs in the Perth and Smiths Falls communities, as well as the mandates of the Seniors Strategy of Ontario’s Action Plan for Health Care. We are a program of care, direction and therapy which focuses on helping older Ontarians stay healthy and stay at home longer. Our mandate is to support older adults to help them in their own home as long as possible and to assist caregivers by providing support, help them to navigate the health care system and provide the much needed respite they so deserve.

The health professionals working within our program, provide our clients with individualized programs specific to their needs and abilities.
We pride ourselves in offering a welcoming atmosphere to our clients and their families. We encourage open communication between clients, family members, client’s doctors and PEP staff.
Who is the program geared towards?
PEP is a therapeutic program for the older adult, living independently. The participant will typically be frail. This may mean that there are concerns about inactivity, poor nutrition, isolation, and/or loneliness. When a older adult is frail, their body does not have the ability to cope with minor illnesses that would normally would have had minimal impact. At PEP we provide physical and emotional therapy as well as cognitive stimulation and socialization.
Respite Time for Caregivers
In addition to the direct benefits to participants, PEP will support family caregivers by providing respite as well as education and social support.
